The Health, Housing, and Human Services Council, the Bainbridge Island Arts & Humanities Council, and the Bainbridge Community Foundation are partnering to sponsor a series of non-profit workshops.
The First Workshop, Strategic Planning, took place on October 5. The
Second Workshop, Financial Practices took place on February 29. The Third
Workshop, on Building a Sustainable Fundraising Model, will be held on Friday, May 30, 2008 and will feature speaker Susan Howlett.

The 2008 Annual Board Forum
Our 5th Annual Board Forum event took place on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at IslandWood. Executive Directors and board members from the Community Connections agencies and partnering organizations attended the event. The topic was on Strategic Planning. The featured speaker was Jill Bamburg, Dean of Bainbridge Graduate Institute's MBA Program
Jill Bamburg is the author of Getting to Scale: Growing Your Business without Selling Out (Berrett-Koehler, 2006). She is the Dean of the MBA program at the Bainbridge Graduate Institute (BGI; www.bgiedu.org), a new institution offering degree and non-degree programs in sustainable business. She is a founding faculty member of BGI and has spearheaded the development of its unique curriculum. Her academic experience also includes seven years of teaching marketing, strategy, and entrepreneurship to mid-career managers in the Graduate Management Program at Antioch University/Seattle.
Before moving into management education, Bamburg served in a variety or marketing roles at Aldus Corporation, the inventors of desktop publishing and creators of the PageMaker software program. She is a lifelong environmentalist and spent her 20s living and working in Wyoming, including eight years of community journalism experience in Jackson Hole and a year and a half as the publisher of the environmental biweekly, High Country News. For the last 10 years, she has served on the board for Positive Futures Network, the publisher of YES! magazine.
Bamburg grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and earned her BA at Washington University in St. Louis. She holds an MBA from Stanford, and currently lives on Bainbridge Island, Washington, with her daughter, Katie Gao.

The Annual Board Forum event for the board members of the non-profit human service agencies and partner organizations of the Directors Forum, took place the evening of Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Bainbridge High School Library. The Board Forum featured nationally recognized expert and speaker on board development, Susan Howlett.
